After leaving University I went to work for a small company that specialised in making large metal sculpture, we worked as a production workshop for professional artists that did not have the skill or facilities to make the works themselves.
I made work for some of the UK’s leading sculptors and have installed these works all over the world. (see ‘Sculpture’)
I have always designed and built things. From an early age I was making model airplanes, restoring cars, drawing and studying art.
I went on to study fine art sculpture at Central St Martins where I found my passion for working in metal and wood.

During this time I also completed a structural engineering degree so I could better understand the mechanics behind how materials and structures work. I spent 12 years making large scale artworks including a number of commissions where I was the lead designer / artist.

Since leaving London and moving to Oxfordshire 18 years ago, I have been running my own design studio. The work has been primarily on private commissions and timber frame buildings.
My first oak frame project was to build a summerhouse for my wife to use a writing studio. I have since gone on to build numerous houses, barns, garages, pergolas and timber framed sculptures.
My work is both sculptural and architectural.
If I am making sculpture then I tend to bring my experience of building houses into the design and I treat my building work as if it were a work of art.
Whether I am being asked to make a public artwork or an oak frame extension, I bring my training and practice as artist into the design process to create the best possible design for the project and its location. I then bring my experience and expertise in fabrication and carpentry to build the design to the highest possible standards.
I have attained planning permission for large-scale commercial and residential projects and have years of experience of this often-difficult process. My experience has included attaining permissions in conservation areas and listed buildings. On my initial visit I can advise on the potential viability of gaining planning permission for your project.
