A commission by Chinnor Parish Council to celebrate Chinnor’s rich heritage. This sculpture is in Oakley, the name of which comes from the Old English ‘Aclea’, meaning ‘oak meadow’. It seemed appropriate to construct this sculpture in oak to commemorate the tradition of timber frame carpentry in this village at the foot of the Chiltern hills. These arched frames act as an entranceway from the village onto the footpaths into the hills.
